Ouch. It just hurts my little heart to watch this scene. Santana just poured her heart out to Brittany and did the bravest thing she’s ever done in her whole life but she’s still so scared and then Rachel Berry opens her mouth and confirms Santana’s biggest fear: that everyone can just see it on her that all her secrets are just out in the open and people already have discerned things about her she’s not ready to tell them So of course Santana puts her claws out—that’s what she does when she’s scared But will you fucking look at Brittany though? Just… god Britty Baby your face… Brittany had waited years for Santana to finally speak honestly concerning her feelings and then Santana did and for two seconds afterward everything was perfect but then Rachel had to say the exact wrong thing and spook Santana and now Brittany doesn’t know if Santana will ever be ‘unspooked’ again And it just breaks her fucking heart to think about it All of Brittany’s hopes from the last few years had rested on this moment and then an outside force almost ruined them Brittany was just so scared that this would be the end of it—that Santana would never speak freely about her feelings again Brittany probably went home after this and just locked herself in her room and sat on her bed staring at the ceiling too worried to move When her mother called her downstairs to dinner Brittany said she wasn’t hungry She wanted to text Santana Goodnight and I love you and Thank you and Pls don’t B scared but in the end all she couldn’t bring herself to say anything; she didn’t sleep a wink all night Imagine Brittany’s surprise and joy then when the next day or a few days later Santana walks up to her at the lockers Imagine her heartbreak when she realizes that now it’s her turn to say the exact wrong—right—thing Our poor brave Baby Girl… I think sometimes it’s easy to forget how much all of this broke Brittany’s heart too
